I would think if you listened to a song in your language, the lyrics would affect your emotions.

If you listened to one in a different language, the frequencies would still have an effect.

If you heard someone in distress or joy speaking another language, I believe you would pick up on the emotion based on the tone and pitch.

I am far from a music expert but I can tell you one thing my son could sing before he could speak a full sentence. Somehow, it triggered a part of his brain.
