I agree 100 percent. I think the reason so many foreigners do well in the US is because they appreciate things. They understand hard work. They don't need much to be happy, because they are wise enough to know that material goods don't buy happiness.

I believe much of our attitude is based on advertising. You gotta have the best of the best and you gotta have it NOW.

But we also have an opposite mindset that poor is humbling, so the greedy take advantage of the gentle.

I have been both- poor and upper middle class, I can tell you which one I like better.

I can appreciate what I have, because I value it more after losing it all. And now I need very little.
