Ginger has always been a trusty sidekick in my kitchen. Its warm, spicy flavor adds a delightful kick to any food. But have you ever had it as a drink?

Ginger juice is a whole new ball game! It’s like taking the essence of ginger and concentrating it into a powerful little dose of pure flavor and goodness. Sure, it packs a fiery punch, but that’s why it is so spectacular.

One sip of ginger juice and you’ll be hooked. It’s not just the unique taste, though — it’s the feeling. Ginger juice seems to have a magical way of waking up your senses, but did you know it has other benefits?

Let’s check them out.

Tummy Troubles

  • Motion Sickness: Sip on some ginger juice before you hit the road!
  • Overindulgence: Eating keeps us alive but let’s admit it, sometimes we overdo it. Ginger juice can help!
  • Hangovers: Feeling queasy the next day? Ginger juice will reduce feelings of nausea.
  • Morning Sickness: While I don’t experience this myself, many people swear by ginger juice for morning sickness relief.
  • Meet-up Jitters: Feeling nervous butterflies before a big date or meeting? Ginger juice can help soothe your stomach and calm your nerves.
  • Bloating and Indigestion: Feeling bloated or backed up? Ginger juice can help move things along smoothly and ease indigestion.
  • Overall Digestive Health: Regularly incorporating ginger juice into your diet can promote a healthy digestive system.

Soothing Sore Muscles with Ginger’s Anti-inflammatory Power

  • Post-Workout Relief: Ginger juice can be your best friend after a tough workout. It helps reduce muscle soreness and gets you back to the gym faster.
  • Chronic Pain Relief: Ginger’s anti-inflammatory properties may also be helpful for those dealing with chronic aches and pains.

Boosting Immunity with Ginger’s Antioxidant Power

  • Cold and Flu Season: Ginger juice is packed with antioxidants that fight free radicals and keep your immune system strong, which is a big help during cold and flu season.

Ginger juice can be pretty spicy, on its own, so you’ll want to mix it up with other ingredients. You might have seen those tiny bottles of ginger juice concoctions in the produce section of your favorite grocer since Ginger Shots are the latest health trend, but I suggest you stay away from them.

There are 3 reasons why:

  1. They come in plastic bottles (leaching)
  2. They aren’t fresh. After only a few hours, your juice will oxidize, losing a majority of its nutritional value.
  3. Making your own ginger shots will cost you 1/3 of the price.

All you need now is a few recipes.

Morning Mojo

This energizing drink is perfect for a morning pick-me-up. It’s packed with vitamins, minerals, and a touch of spice to get your day started right.

  • 1-inch fresh ginger root, peeled and chopped
  • 1 apple, cored and chopped
  • 1/2 lemon, juiced
  • 1 cup water

Juice all the ingredients together and enjoy!

No juicer? That’s O.K.

You can still make ginger shots without a juicer!

In my opinion, juicing is the best way to get nutrients into your body- FAST. Luckily you can find quality juicers today that aren’t overly priced.

With the recipe below you’ll blend grated ginger with a few tablespoons of water in a high-powered blender for 60 to 90 seconds.

Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer, then add lemon juice, salt, cayenne, and honey.

Lemon Ginger Shot

  • 1-inch length piece of fresh ginger root
  • 1 large lemon
  • Pinch fine sea salt
  • Pinch cayenne pepper (be careful! Cayenne packs a punch-a tiny bit will do)
  • 1 teaspoon honey

Stir vigorously or place back in blender for a quick spin.

Maybe you’re not into the shots, but smoothies float your boat. Besides most people have a blender as opposed to a juicer.

Below are 2 of my favorite smoothies. And by the way, when making my smoothies I don’t measure. Just toss it in, but for those who like clear-cut directions, here ya go!

This creamy smoothie is a delightful way to end the day. It’s naturally sweet from the banana and satisfyingly filling.

Here is one I made after discovering it at Smoothie King. It’s so darn good, I make it at home- MY WAY!

This vibrant green smoothie combines the goodness of ginger, lemon, and spinach for a refreshing and nutrient-packed drink. It’s perfect for a post-workout pick-me-up or a healthy breakfast.

Ginger Lemon and Spinach Smoothie

  • 1 cup fresh spinach
  • 1/2 banana, frozen
  • 1-inch fresh ginger root, peeled and chopped
  • 1/2 lemon, juiced
  • 1/2 tsp of raw honey
  • 1 cup unsweetened plant-based milk (such as almond or coconut milk)
  • 1/2 cup water (optional, adjust for desired consistency)
  • Optional additions:
  • 1 scoop protein powder (unflavored or vanilla)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric

Add all ingredients to your blender and blend until smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides as needed.

Taste and adjust sweetness or consistency with additional water or honey. Pour into a glass and enjoy!

These are just a couple of ideas to get you started. Experiment with different fruits and vegetables to find your favorite ginger juice combinations.
